Welcome to May! We're heading into our second year, and our anniversary is coming right up. In fact, prejoin started on May 13th two years ago. How time flies!

I can't believe it's April! :O I think I'm going to be saying this every month... well, not the April part, but I think I'll be expressing my disbelief once again at the start of next month. Anyway, it's April! Did any of you fall for any April Fools' tricks? Or play any tricks? :'D I thought the Google Maps 8-bit version one was so cute~!

April always feels like a month of new beginnings to me, partly because it's springtime where I live, so the weather's starting to get warm, and flowers are blooming. (And lots of people are getting allergies! Thankfully not me~). In Japan, it's the start of the new school year, and it's also the start of a new anime season! :3

I'm curious about what new series you're following if you're following anything from the new anime season! If you're not, I'd love to know what else you're into at the moment, be it manga series, games, books, tv shows, movies, etc~. Blab a bit about what you're currently following or looking forward to, and you can then claim any two cards numbered 20 and 04~. Any character or special card are all okay! Doesn't have to be from this release~

♥ Tobi-han's Shopping Street is still running at the moment, but the boys will be closing up shop on April 30th! So don't forget to spend your chocolates from Tobi-han Day '12 before the end of the month!

♥ We'll soon be welcoming our 2nd anniversary. Wow. To celebrate that, we'll be having a countdown featuring art of our Colors' characters, and we'll need artists to contribute! Look forward to more information about that~.

A new month already. I just wish time would slow down!

Thanks everyone for your opinions last month about whether or not we should expand to including video game character decks from Western games (as well as Avatar decks). I've read through everyone's comments and feel it would be easiest to continue with our original criteria of only allowing East Asian sources at this time. Allowing all Western games would be too large a scope for this TCG, but making exceptions for only certain games would be hard to judge. There's also TCG game material to consider, such as whether allowing Western games would mean that our game rounds also expand to including knowledge of Western games.

That said, that doesn't mean we'll never see Western games or Avatar decks in the future. If they ever make an appearance in this TCG (I am very tempted about Avatar decks!), they will most likely not be part of the randomizer and would be only acquirable through choice cards and crayons.

Also, I'd like to emphasize that we are an East Asian TCG that also covers Chinese and Korean sources, so if you have any favorite manhua, manhwa, Korean games, etc, please do donate decks from those series as well!

I mentioned last month that we'd be having a layout contest, but I've decided to simplify it into a banner contest, so look forward to that (finally). :3 Also look forward to spending your Valentines chocolate. ♥

Hello, hello, welcome to another month! This is up a few hours later than I would've liked. I always try to get releases up by the 5th! :3 I also change the site layout every two months, so we were due for another layout change this month, except we'd already gone through our color-swapping layouts with all the Colors characters. That meant... it was time to feature all the characters at once. ;) Anyway, this release is late because of Lucathia's terrible layout skills. OTL After much tinkering, this layout ended up looking exactly like our previous layouts, just with a pretty banner courtesy of Nuge's cute art. XD and you get to admire my fishbone font too. Please take a look and tell Nuge how cute her art is. :3

Upcoming and Current February activities!
♥ Graphics Donations this month is also accepting banners for Pick a Color (just for one month!), so come drop by with some pretty banners. :)
♥ Pot of Gold 18 - The Precure cast challenges you! How much of the rainbow can you complete?
♥ The amount of cards you can claim from Recycled Art has been upped to 10!
♥ Look forward to a small Valentine's event, as well as a layout contest this month! (because Lucathia does not think she will be able to come up with any layouts for April, when the next layout change is scheduled. XD;;; )

Thank you for your thoughts about an off topic community. After reading everyone's thoughts, my conclusions are that people feel it would be nice to have an off topic community...but it's not very necessary, and it would be very easy for an off topic community to die off. Since the player who first suggested an off topic community doesn't seem very enthusiastic about it anymore, we won't have an official off topic community, but if anyone wishes to start one, you have my blessing. :3 I do feel it would be a nice place to hang out, though most players already do that elsewhere.

I have been asking questions quite often in these release posts. Here's another one for all of you. Would you mind 1) Avatar decks and 2) video game character decks of characters from Western games? To me, Colors is "East Asian", hence why I've excluded video games from Western sources (the style feels fairly different to me, and I did not want to branch out too much - we already have quite a large focus!), but let me know your thoughts, and you may claim one purple character card for your answer~. Unless response is overwhelmingly in favor of having such decks, there will be no change. :3

Wow, it's 2012! 2011 passed by super quickly for me. I almost can't believe it. It's January once again. Here's to another year of trading! \o/

LJ's release 88 completely revamped the comment system so that it's very different from before. The new comment style doesn't completely suit the TCG's needs, as subject lines have been taken out, and there is no preview button for players and mods to check to see if their comments display correctly. While LJ has given everyone the ability to edit comments, sometimes editing comments isn't exactly the best route to take (especially when time stamps are involved)! I'm not particularly fond of plus accounts because of ads, but I have changed colors_tcg from a basic account to a plus account so that we can use S2, which allows for customized comment pages, which means we can have subject lines and the preview button back (for now, at least). Chuu has very helpfully tweaked a layout for us! I hope it's a good enough compromise for now. Since the community is currently a plus account, that also means we can have more links in the sidebar. I've only included the bare minimum (all of the links are displayed on our profile page and essential posts linked here, but if there are any other links you feel are necessary for the sidebar (or counterintuitive for not being in the sidebar in the first place), let me know!

The banner in the upper left corner was drawn by Nuge~, featuring our Colors characters! We'll possibly even have rotating banners in the future! :) (edit: we now have a few banners! Can you catch them all? ;)

Our trading and mod communities have not been touched. Unless anyone feels colors_trade would benefit from an S2 style, with customized comment pages, the community will probably stay as is! (It would be nice to have a preview button, I suppose?)

Sort of but not entirely related to the above (my mind's just been on communities!), I have also been wondering if players would like an off-topic community, or if that would take away too much from colors_trade (I'm always afraid of branching out too much and like my things centralized). An off-topic community has been suggested before, but I did consider things like friending memes, announcements about special Colors related projects, misc chats about Colors, etc, to belong in colors_trade, so an off-topic community might take away from that (as there would be two different places to post, yet crossposting would maybe be overdoing it). Still, perhaps an off-topic community where (almost) anything goes might be nice? Where players can chat and be silly, and your chatter wouldn't have to be related to trading or TCGs. Share your thoughts - yes, no, maybe, doesn't matter? reasons? - and you can snatch yourself two character cards, one #20 character card and one #12 character card for 2012!

Our deck donation number has gone down a bit, but we were so close to what I like to see in each release - around 70 new character decks! We were short 2 decks this month, exactly like last month, actually. So you know what this means right? Please continue to donate lots of decks! For this release, I've noticed that we mostly have decks from series that's already part of the TCG. It's great seeing the casts from these series being filled out more! \o/ (But I hope this doesn't mean we've run out of series we want decks of!)

Hello everyone! It's December! Another year is coming to an end. Here at Colors, we're celebrating the end of the year with an advent calendar! Mods have been posting up discussion topics daily and will be doing so until the 25th. Chime in with your thoughts and comments to earn yourself some cards. Discussion is highly encouraged! Our Colors' Shopping Street will be open until December 31, so if you still have some Halloween treats laying around, don't forget to exchange them before the year ends!

Every two months, I've been changing the layout, but oh my, I've come to the end of my color-swapping layouts, as all eight human characters have now been featured two months per character! I'm hoping to be able to continue changing the layout every two months, most likely with player help (as my layout skills are oh-so-terrible). For these next two months, I've put up a layout that I er, designed near the beginning of the TCG. The layout is modeled after our Portfolios! It is very silly and elementary. ORZ. But I hope it doesn't kill your eyes. (This is what happens when you let Lucathia design layouts) You'll only see it for the next two months. XD; If anyone has trouble with the font color, etc, let me know and I'll see if I can tweak it a bit. (I think maybe the links and the regular text are too close in color?) If the layout doesn't display correctly on your browser, let me know that too! I was also trying to design some horizontal crayons for our menu but failed pretty terribly with that, so the menu still looks exactly the same as before. XD

Our new level set, Flowers, is up on the site now, with mini icons thanks to Skie! Many level banners have already been donated for our Flowers set, so go, go, go! Time to level up! ;)

November! How many of you are participating in NaNoWriMo this year? :) Eri has created a community for Colors players to talk about NaNoWriMo, so if you're participating this year, drop by colors_nano for commiseration and encouragement for this crazy November! If you don't know what NaNoWriMo is, it's a month long, novel writing spree with the goal to write 50k by the end of the month~

Second up, I've moved our art of our Colors characters to a new gallery over here! I'll still be poking at this gallery some more before linking it from our Colors Universe page. This will make it so that it's easier for me to update with new submissions, and so that you can all browse the art more easily too. There are tags! \o/ I wish I could have continued to do things the way I was previously with our Colors Universe page, but it was getting very difficult to update.

Thanks everyone for your opinions about what we should have as our next level set! We will be going with Flowers for our next set as it is a very adaptable theme, and our requirement for leveling will be kept at 300 cards per level to make it not-so-impossible for people at the Flowers level to participate in Pot of Gold leveling tasks (and also so that we can grab new level banners more often). As I don't believe this will be our final set or that there will be a final, final set, the other ideas will be kept for future level sets~. I also really loved the suggestion of Elements and Food!

For the flowers for each level, here was what I've sort of settled on.

Red: Sakura
Orange: Tiger Lily
Yellow: Daffodil
Green: Rose (lol? one would think this would show up for Red, but I feel Sakura is pretty apt for a TCG like ours for Red) Let's go with Clover!
Blue: Hydrangea
Purple: Lilac
Brown: Chocolate Cosmos
Gray: Magnolia

Green might end up as Green Rose, simply because it seems less of a mouthful than say, Bells of Ireland. I wanted to go with more common flowers for each level, and to keep it to flowers with one word names when possible.

Hope you all had fun with trick-or-treating last month! :D Our Colors characters will soon be holding a shopping street where you can spend these treats. The shopping street will be open until the end of December. What do you feel our Colors characters should offer in the shopping street? Comment to let them know, and you can snatch yourself a number 11 card from any character deck! This question will only be open until November 12, so comment quickly! Thank you all for your suggestions! The Colors crew has taken them into consideration and will be setting up shop very soon!

Some of you might have noticed that the website was updated yesterday (but LJ was acting up too much for me to post here), and we have a new layout featuring Gin-sensei! \o/ I'm debating whether we should have a layout for Kurocchi and Shirocchi as well but they're also part of the gray color scheme, or if we should move on to new layouts since we've been stuck with this same layout for a long time, just with different colors and characters on the header! If we move on to new layouts, I'll be asking members to design them since my designing sense is not very good. XD; Anyone eager to design a layout? ;)

Congratulations to Team Murasaki for coming in first with the Colors League event in September! Everyone else did a spectacular job as well. Good job everyone! \o/

Some of our members will be reaching the Silver level soon, and that means they'll have reached the end of their leveling! But that doesn't mean their levels will stop there since we'll be thinking up a new level set after Precious!

Here are the options so far:

-planets (I'm not too sure what color is associated with each planet)
-other suggestions?

Comment in this release post and let us know which option you like best! By doing so, you may claim one character card that starts with the letter O for October! I would also love to know what people think the leveling requirement should be for the next set -- should we have it be 300 cards per level like the Precious set, or should it be upped to 400 per level? It seems quite a feat to have to wait 400 cards to level, but I suppose it'd be the ultimate set!

Welcome to September, to another month of trading! Before we get started, I have some news to go over! Yay for actual news!

First, this release could not have happened without Moon's gracious help with coding the release post as well as both of our secondary card lists. It is a ton of work. Thank you Moon! Second, I give my thanks to Eri and all of our backup deckmakers, Skie, Chuu, Aru, and Curry for helping out with the decks this month. Since we seem a bit short on deckmakers, I've invited Chuu to become a permanent deckmaker, so you'll be seeing more decks from Chuu from now on. Welcome, Chuu, to the team! \o/ Thank you to everyone else who offered help with backup deckmaking as well! Your offer to help was much appreciated.

Before moving on to other news, here is your monthly zip of new cards. For previous zips, please visit this page on the website. Ka-chan has been helping with complete zips of all of the cards we have at the TCG, so you can thank her for those!

♥ Colors League ♥
For two weeks until the 20th, we'll be having a little competition among ourselves. We've been divided into 8 teams named after each of our Colors Universe characters and will be playing 8 special Colors League only games to earn points~. If you haven't signed up already, head over to this post to do so if you'd like to join in! Team divisions can be found over at this post. The first game is going to go up in a few hours!

♥ Regarding Special Privileges ♥
There has been some questions over special privileges (earned from games such as Pot of Gold and Lottery) and their expiration dates. To clarify, special deck donation privileges should be regarded as a one-time use kind of privilege. It has no expiration date. You may use it whenever. Once. As for other special privileges, they are usually time-based and can only be used during the month they're indicated for, unless otherwise specified. After that month, they're considered expired! If you are ever unsure about when something is or isn't expired, please ask the mod who rewarded you the reward, or the mod responsible for the post/activity you are using your privilege with.

♥ Pot of Gold ♥
After bringing many months of Pot of Gold to us, Chikky has now unleashed the behemoth on the rest of the Colors mods, so now it is wandering amongst all of us! You will be seeing Pot of Gold posted by different mods for each month from now own. :)

Also, we would like to mention that tasks for Pot of Gold must be completed and turned in by the deadline unless otherwise stated. Please make sure to turn in your tasks on time once you complete them so that you don't accidentally miss out! Don't be like Lucathia, who had to throw her cards back in her trading pile more than once...

♥ General Reminders ♥
With Colors League games just around the corner, I would like to remind everyone that game answers are not to be shared! If you do not know an answer for any game at all (Colors League games or not!), skip out on that round. No matter how close you are with someone, answers should not be shared. We have noticed a few suspicious answers that I will be more closely examining. If these suspicious answers continue, I will be taking action. We highly depend on your honesty to keep this game running, thank you~.

Ah, LJ. Despite LJ being down for quite a few days, I saw that a lot of us were still trying to get on! I kept refreshing pages trying to get all the comments to load so I could reply to them, but that didn't work very well at all. I then went through my email and searched for comment notifications so I could reply that way, haha. I sure wish I could've made myself stay away from LJ instead of checking back as often as I did. Hopefully things have returned to normal (though comment notifications seem a little late at the moment) and we can return to our regular schedule.

I've changed the layout to feature Tobi-han! :D Though hm, it would have been more fitting to have his layout up by July, it being the seventh month and all. But ah well, here's to adventuring for two months. ♥

We have two concurrent Art/Fic Submission posts going on right now. Our usual one and our Asobot Initiative one. Do contribute some fic and art! :D I'm hoping to make at least one Colors Universe character deck (of the characters that don't have decks yet!) for next month's release, so if you'd like your art to be included, better act fast. XD; Also, remember Contest 010 closes on August 18! That's in two weeks!

♥ Portfolios ♥

edit: I forgot to mention that you are now allowed to modify portfolios you sign up for once per portfolio. Moon and I discussed how best to help players who end up with portfolios that have decks that might be too difficult to collect, especially for newer members. We still want everyone to be careful in picking decks for portfolios, so we cannot have players changing entire portfolios, but here are modification specifics that we settled on that we hope will be helpful for players!

If you have not mastered 3 decks in your portfolio after a month, you may ask to have up to three of the decks on your Portfolio changed (only once per portfolio). If you already started off with three decks mastered in your portfolio, you may not have any decks changed.
