I intend to donate deck images for characters from Pokemon in the future. When I do submit, will the English or Japanese character names be preferred?

I was just talking with kaze now and we were wondering about that because if we weren't deckmakers we would donate decks too and we kinda miss out on the opportunity the way it is now. xD;; I mean, naturally we were thinking with the "up to 5 cards" limit :3 Just asking~ xD

I was thinking that I'd make a post in the mod community every so often. You can tell me there all you did that week or month, including donating decks (with rewards up to five decks).

Are you going to be doing anything for the people with referrals? It's mentioned on the form and all.

Just out of curiosity, prejoiners will receive another starter pack when the game reopens. For the people who stick to the same starting deck they chose when they prejoin, will there be a method to prevent a situation of players receiving cards that they already have? Say, my prejoin starter deck is Meister and I plan to join with Meister again, and I already have more than half the cards. I thought it'd be pretty disappointing if my starter pack were to contain Meister cards that I already have. XD;

Or will prejoiners have to select another deck to start with?

To be safe, I would suggest choosing another deck if you don't want repeats. Otherwise, I'll post the first two cards the randomizer gives me for that deck.

I'm so excited about this game already! I made my post and am getting things going! I won't be able to do much (art-wise) at work as this computer is a hunk of junk! I'm already addicted XD

I've been using the font 04b24 for the cards. It's a pixel font that looks good small. For my banners for my trading buddies, I very randomly chose Impact. XD;

I was feeling the void after some TCGs closed. I was hoping someone would start a new TCG. :3

Yes, you're allowed to trade crayons with other players, but since crayons are not worth anything, they don't count towards Sketchpads.

1 crayon = 1 card when you trade them in at the Art Shop.

I've noticed most of the graphics are gifs... And when people donate sketchpads, buttons etc., gif appears to be preferred extention. However the only programs at my disposal are pixlr (online) & MS paint... Saving things as a gif is not possible unless I want more artifacts then an archeological dig.

So with my inability to save in gif format, am I unable to donate valid sketchpads/level banners/buttons etc.?
Edit; I suppose it doesn't hurt to include that I can save them as .png, which also preserves transparency.

I'm sorry, but I'm only accepting .gif files to keep everything uniform. It saves me time when I update the site, and there are a lot of files to update with when there are so many donations. I don't know what changing the file extension might do to the quality of your graphics after you've already saved them, but you could try saving as png files and then change the extension to a gif to see how they turn out.

I have a question! o/ With the Switch It Up game thingamajig, would that count as a valid trade to mark on our sketchpads? :O

No, that doesn't count towards Sketchpads since you're not trading with a player. :3

If we've already donated decks for this month, are we allowed to PM you to claim decks to donate next month?

No, claims should only be for this month. I'll be clearing the list at the end of each month.

And the official answer is no. It's not about rewards but rather how long it takes to update things (and I can be very scatterbrained and end up passing out rewards to people already past the limit).

Are we allowed to make changes to our portfolios? I think many people picked decks they were "eh" about at least for one or two color's and now with the new releases there are decks that are more preferable for those slots!

I actually don't mind if we can't though, because it's not like the original decks are no longer going to be collected even if they're lower priority. Another downfall would be the poor mod in charge having more work to do!

The current answer is no...because it would be more work for the mod, and I'm not sure how the decks would work. If you choose decks that you haven't mastered yet, I suppose it would be okay...but yeah, more work, and I do hope everyone will collect certain decks even if they're kind of meh about them.

Question Regarding Portfolios.

Say, at the time a person submitted a portfolio, only 2 different color decks were mastered before the person submitted it on the portfolio post. Considering how long a Portfolio maker might take(I'm pretty sure the person has a life and all), would a portfolio be void if the player has mastered 4 difference color decks before the Portfolio maker gets back to the player? While it seems like an impossibility atm, I'd just want to know for clarification.

Question! I was thinking about donating a deck for a character that has a twin. I've seen TCGs either have twins in the same deck or in separate decks, so I was wondering what your policy was on that? o:

Would it be possible to bring in a rule where each member is required to have some kind of post available for contact regarding colors_tcg? There's somebody I really want to trade with but their cards are displayed on a separate website with no contact link, their journal has no entries, & their private messaging is switched off. x_x

On the how to play page, I've stated that it is recommended for people who choose to display their cards on a website to make an LJ post to facilitate trading. By choosing not to do so, they lose potential trades from the majority of the community. I haven't explicitly stated in the rules that it's required to do so, but I've now added this part in the first rule. Still, it's more of a recommendation than a requirement.

A Couple of questions for future reference, if I may!

1. Would it required for players to upload their cards(for their card post) in a server that allows .gif files? I noticed some players have uploaded their cards onto Tinypic etc. having the server changing the files into .jpg files.

2. Would it be allowed to have players have unreleased decks in their portfolios when they submit it? Even if the release date is pretty close?

Are you asking if it's required, or if I'm going to make it required? In any case, file extensions shouldn't be changing. The way we randomize cards keep the file extensions the same, and changing file extensions might affect the cards. Tinypic does more than change the file extension though...file names also disappear. I don't see how someone can use tinypic without going crazy over not being able to tell which card is which in their card post! If you receive a trade from someone who has cards with file names or extensions changed, please save the original card from the website.

Players are not allowed to have unreleased decks in their portolio even if the release date is close. The colors of the decks are still subject to changing, and some decks might even be held back if there's a problem with the deck.

I've gotta pair of questions about deck donation stuff.

1) Would IdolM@ster/IM@S 2 & IdolMaster: Xenoglossia be counted as the same thing? Yes, the characters are the same but the whole universe, the personalities and the backgrounds of the characters are very different to the point where finding a deck name the covers both of them would be near impossible. But, at the same time, both versions of the character look nearly identical and have the same name.

2) If Kidalana/Mnemosyne, Kidalanna & I work together on it [and don't chuck them at you all at once] would we be able to claim all of the main IdolM@ster characters at once? I say this mainly because a lot of the pictures we're finding include all or most of the idols, so there'd be a lot of overlapping images. Excluding IM@S SP and IM@S DS [because those characters don't have enough art for them yet] that'd mean we'd be working on a pool of images to cover eleven characters.

I am not familiar with the series, but this sounds like a case of having characters in alternate universes (such as how the Tenchi Muyo series has spin offs and OVAs where the entire backdrop is different, or like Fushigi Yuugi with an entirely different scenario for the OVAs). Full Metal Alchemist is another one where the second anime is different from the first anime, though it's more of a remake with sort of the same situation. For all three of the cases I mentioned, characters would only have one deck. For characters such as Cloud from Final Fantasy VII who appears in several games (even in alternate universes), he would still only have one deck. However, in the case of Syaoran and Sakura from CLAMP, their Card Captor Sakura and Tsubasa counterparts would have separate decks because they do look different and are different people. (It is possible for them to meet their CCS counterparts).

But the bottom line is, if it's an alternative universe with mostly the same characters just in a different situation, then they would be counted the same. Either that, or only one series will be represented.

Each of you can donate 2 decks, so if you're gathering images for more than 6 characters, you'll have to wait until the next month for those. Claims are only valid for the current month.

No, those technically aren't trades since you're not trading with a player.

Are we allowed to trade signatures for regular cards, or just for other signatures?

Signatures can only be traded for other signatures. This may not have been clear before, but I tried to make it clearer. More info about this has been added to the Signature pages.

I was wondering what color crayon I should use to get my signature.

I sampled it and it falls in the cyan range but it doesn't really look blue but yet it's not completely green and looks more teal :\ (but that doesn't help with which crayon to use xD). I asked at the art shop and raitosu mentioned that they thought of it was green but wasn't the best person to ask and I should ask you.

Ah, hm. This one is very hard to make a decision about. The closest decks I can think of are these three decks, manikatti, jealousy, and oracle. The first is labeled green while the other two are labeled blue. Yours is kind of between manikatti and oracle, which means it could go either way. Teal is hard since it is, in the end, a mix of green and blue. Usually with something like this, I ask the deck maker what their intention was, or I ask them to tweak the color a bit so that it's more easily defined.

Since Tari mentioned thinking this was green, we'll go with that since Tari made it after all! Or did you give Tari a color code? Either way, if you pick a color and stick with it, I'm okay with that since this is your Signature and not a deck with an official color.

This is more of a minor question than an actual FAQ question that's useful.

Any idea if there's going to be an update of members that are inactive? There are at least a few members that haven't updated for a month or more and in the active members policy, it was said that "any members that haven't updated in that time period are to be moved to the inactive member's list."

My least favorite job! Hence why it hasn't been done yet (and I didn't think this was a major issue yet since we're only around 2 months old), but before the next update, I'll have someone on the job.

This occurred to me just now.

When we're donating graphics/decks, it was said in the guidelines that we not supposed to use any fanart for them. Would that mean fanart in general, or just fanart that's been drawn by someone other than yourself? I'm sorry if this sounds like a silly question to ask.

Fanart other than your own is not allowed since I wouldn't know where to start with permission and the like!

Question- when donating images, is colored manga allowed? Like, if I found an uncolored official image I wanted to use and colored it myself, would that be okay to donate?

Manga images colored by yourself are ok!

I've a question. If I joined on Sept. 2nd before release #5 do I get to pick my freebies from release #4 too? Since it was then the latest deck release.

Also do I wait next year to claim my birthday since it was July? o.o
